Tinkebell Flora Tata Metallica
After I made a series of artworks – Flora Tata Metallica – out of toxic particles, spread by the heavy polluting Tata Steel factory in The Netherlands (extracted with a magnet from sand around the factory), I urged CEO Hans van den Berg to buy back his own garbage, by purchasing my art pieces.
He did.
Which was, of course, a form of greenwashing.
So with the artworks, I offered him one hour of my time, every six months, for five years. To help him in becoming a ‘green’ factory, or to close the factory.
He accepted.
After a few years I concluded that this factory will never be ‘green’.
So, I joined an initiative to buy the factory. To break it down. To build a new neighbourhood and settle a new circular industrial site with the guarantee of jobs for all former Tata Steel employees.
We are now at the point of having all the investors on board.
If anything can save the world – it’s the arts.
