Jenny Lynn McNutt Gravity and Grace
My native environment was the valley and mountains of east Tennessee’s Appalachian mountains, folding in on themselves, curving wildly, green upon green land that firstcradled my twin brother, me and my family.
This land created a haptic calling that kept me curving around to the other side, knowing if i shifted slightly on one foot a wholly new view would envelope me.
We were forever out in it, swamp, woods, creeks and swimming in quarries or meanderingriver coves. Sundays lined us up in pews though I would say that ultimately the value ofthis religious education was that it pointed to an interior life. Whatever the maelstromtherein, it is real and could be filled with hymns. This I have carried with me wherever my wide ranging explorations have taken me.
