De zwevende zes Kunstkantine
For one month, GOOD TROUBLE invited artist collective De Zwevende Zes to take over the exhibition space with a simple brief:
Do whatever you want.
The only condition? Return the space as you found it.
De Zwevende Zes is made up of six artists — Ricardo van Eyk, Rood Kok, Lennart de Neef, Jan Tromp, Rein Verhoef and Hilke Walraven — who share a studio building in Utrecht. At the heart of that building is a communal space: their canteen.
More than a place to eat, the canteen is where ideas emerge, conversations unfold, projects take shape, and friendships are sustained. It is a place of pause and celebration, work and play, gathering and belonging.
For this exhibition, the collective transformed the gallery through an architectural intervention inspired by the canteen itself. Familiar yet unexpected, the installation temporarily disrupted the space — even prompting concerned calls from neighbours.
While united by a shared environment, each artist brings a distinct perspective and practice. Together, they approach the theme from multiple angles, presenting works that are both individual and collective, conceptual and material, playful and reflective. The result is a diverse exhibition that explores the social spaces we often take for granted — and the communities that form around them.
A celebration of creativity, exchange, and the everyday rituals that bring people together.
