Light-Sensitive walks.
Trough Light-Sensitive walks, artist Titia Ex explores how the interplay between light and darkness influences our experience of the city. The walks invite groups to rediscover a familiar environment: how does a place change through natural light, artificial light and darkness? How does light affect our sense of direction, our sense of safety, our attention and our connection to a place?
The walks bring to life an often-forgotten dimension of the city: time. Light makes the constant exchange between the sun, the earth and the atmosphere visible and connects these natural rhythms with everyday life. The city turns out not to be a static backdrop, but a living environment that is constantly changing.
In a 24/7 city where artificial light and stimuli increasingly influence our rhythms, the walks create space for reflection and connection. Participants learn to look at their surroundings differently and discover how light influences the atmosphere, the use and the experience of places.
A moment to learn to see the city anew — as a living environment in which light not only shapes space, but also determines how people experience, use and feel connected to different places.
