Carolien Adriaansche Cloud

I transform waste into seductive images that expose the tension between beauty and pollution, consumerism and ecological crisis. It is raining plastic! In 2016, research into the ‘precipitation’ of microfibers was conducted in Paris for the first time. During a rain shower, there is more precipitation of microplastics than during dry weather. Most of the fibers likely originate from textiles. My work starts from plastic waste as both a material and an indictment. I transform waste into seductive images that expose the tension between beauty and pollution, consumerism and the ecological crisis. My art aims not only to seduce, but also to activate and raise awareness.
