Conny Groenewegen Poetry of Indifference

The photo shows the installation “Poetry of Indifference,” a product of the Fashion Machine project, on display at the Verbeke Foundation (Kemzeke, Belgium) from November 16, 2025, to April 19, 2026.

Fashion Machine (FaMa) offers critical commentary on the (waste) production of the global clothing industry. The project focuses on a single, everyday synthetic garment found in virtually every wardrobe: the polyester fleece sweater.

Approximately one-third of all plastic in our waterways comes from clothing. Micro- and nano plastics are released, particularly during washing, which ultimately enter our food chain via the water.
